Data Stream Viewer

In today’s world of high quality print files and varying data stream formats such as PCL, PostScript, HPGL, etc., the challenge is to provide some means of viewing the contents of a data stream in human readable form so that users can determine restart points should a printer crash during a print run.

Unlike the ASCII data streams created by legacy applications the current formats such as PCL do not lend themselves to being easily read by humans.

How can anyone find out where in a print file the last page printed is actually located?

The solution comes from a range of data stream viewers that we can supply.

When integrated as part of the queue management application the most suitable viewer will be launched automatically should a user need to view a print file.

File in PCL Viewer

Here’s the same file as displayed in the PCL viewer. Not only are the contents readable, but the user has the ability to search the file for specific information such as the invoice number, account number, etc., in addition to purely paging through each document.

Once the appropriate document has been located, a single page or range of pages can be printed without needing to re-run the application or reprint the complete file.

Reprinting

Additional facilities can be provided to export the complete file or individual documents in any one of the data stream formats supported.
